Using Solidworks 2022-2023 at Home
Some users have experience severe performance issues when trying to use Solidworks at home over the schools VPN. The VPN was required as Solidworks performs a licence check when starting and this server is located inside the C2k network hence the requirement to have the VPN connected.
To bypass the performance issue and licence check users can carry out a licence take out which will allow a computer up to 30 days of offline use.
The licence manager can be accessed by right clicking on the Start Menu and choosing RUN or pressing the Windows key + R to open the Windows Run dialogue and pasting in the following:
"C:\program Files\common Files\SOLIDWORKS Shared\2022\swlmwiz.exe"
Then Press OK
You will be presented with the Licence manager window.
Click on the Licence borrowing tab, then chose a date to borrow until from the on screen calendar. Borrow dates are a limited to a maximum of 30 days.
Then from the available product licences scroll down and choose "SOLIDWORKS Premium" and press the borrow button.
When you press the borrow button you will see this select product Window, leave the premium version selected and press OK.
When borrowing is successful you will see your taken out licences on the right side with the expiry dates.
You can now press OK on this Window to close it. Solidworks will now run offline.
Notice: When you start Solidworks you will see the below message reminding how long your licence is valid for. You can tick the don't show again option to dismiss.
You can open Solidworks by opening the Windows Start Menu and typing Solidworks, the program should display like below, or by opening another Run dialogue and pasting in the following:
"C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS\SLDWORKS.exe"
